Personal Reflections for 2001

(December 5, 2001) After the 9.11 attacks, it was really hard to go back to "business as usual" -- especially as a political astrologer forecasting terrorism. I felt very pulled into the 9.11 horror as so many were. It has been hard to remain objective -- a necessary ingredient in writing quality articles. Writing this Winter 2001 chart took many rewrites as I attempted to process my feelings and step back. A very difficult and time consuming process for me. I thought long and hard about stopping these political articles all together, but I realize that life goes on and wounds do heal. Tomorrow always comes. It is time to pick up the pieces and move on.

I find it very valuable to continue delineating these charts. This process helps me to keep abreast of an enormous amount of astrological data that I can keep under my hat for my students and clients. Creating these articles strengthens my skills. It is an extension of my work.

2001 Bloopers. I am not perfect, and there are times when my writings reflect error in the astrological translations. My attitude is simple, "if at first you do not succeed, well then, try, try again!" There are three translations I was off on recently. These happen to bother me enough to want to mention them to my readers. In the Fall 2001 article I wrote that Bush would fall in the polls as his Sun sat in the house of the party out of power. The indication in the media supported this prior to September 11, 2001. However, he did not lose in votes, but he did relinquish control to top military officials. So, he gave up his leadership to have the military come in, obviously an important move. I assumed since Bush was in fact coming close to the Democratic party firing squad that he would lose in the polls. Assumptions can get me into trouble, I know. I also said that it was "plausible" that Osama would be caught just after Thanksgiving. The second mistake was purely wishful thinking on my behalf. After all, I am an American. [CNN (12.15.01) -- Bush received tape of Osama admitting to 9.11 on November 30, 2001. Osama was not caught physically, but legally.] The last mistake I made was to try and make light of Jupiter sitting on Bush’s Sun. A potential side effect is weight gain, as Jupiter tends to expand where it goes. It was meant in jest prior to the bombings. I found that humor changed after 9.11 and it was not funny, nor was it correct. Instead, he was in the spotlight -- another potential manifestation of Jupiter conjunct the Sun. So, there you have the bloopers for the year.

2001 Highlights. Of course, I am proud of calling Bush as the next president as early as Spring of 1999. I gave warning last December 2000 that terrorism was due for Americans, and that chemical and biological attacks were a threat to the East Coast. I think that I have been on about many key points. I continue to understand astrological timing better with each passing political saga. I could go into more detail, but all my articles can be read on line. Finally, I do need to get back to business as usual, even though it does not feel like it. I started these articles to educate the public to what astrologers already know to be true. That is -- Astrology works!
