An Astrologer's Perspective
2012 - Let it Go
September 11, 2011

This year there is some area of all our lives that would be best to just, let it go. The planets have lined up to parallel the Great Depression and the Revolutionary 60's. There is a preponderance of indicators that 2012 is a pivotal year for humanity. It is a very dangerous time in our human development of self entitlements, technological military power, and expanding population to re-experience these aspects... simultaneously.

Changes coming in 2012 are not for the weak hearted. We are on a gigantic global correction on all levels; socially, individually, spiritually, geologically, economically, and politically. We enter a new era of social rules that address the changing times. It looks like manners are coming back.

The prosperous 90’s created a psychology of “sky is the limit” creating a global boom in commodities and housing markets. Now, we stand in a correction. Many cannot retire on their 401K’s. Retrofitting businesses, reusing the old to make it “like new” is now gaining new social appeal. The current market conditions to get a business off the ground in 2012 are very unpredictable and unstable.

There exists the ability to see and accept the bad and ugly in ourselves as well as others. The end of 2012 coincides with the end of the Mayan Baktun calendar, a 5,125 year cycle; the so-called “End Times”. I'd rather not use the word “Apocalypse”; there are future dates, more terroristic than 2012. This year creates an emotional depth that can lead many toward new creative and mystical inspirations as well as spiritual and psychological regeneration. Prophets, healers, writers and publishers, therapists and helpers are "in" as we experience these weaknesses. Our values are in a cleansing phase, much like water.

The media has been like a bee to honey covering this Great Recession, while the environmentalists warn of climate change and pollution. No more talk of leaving it to our future grandchildren, it is here and now. It also time to address historic changes for a growing population, pollution on many levels.

Instability will be a key word to describe 2012 years from now. Even the most stable of relationships will struggle. Any relationship trying to get off the ground now will find resistance on some level. This includes business and work partners. It is all about the money. Financial institutions, inheritance, and health care for military, police, and blue collar are under the knife. It's a BEAR of a year if you are a risk taker; look at what you would lose first, then, and realize what you have. Invest in the tried and true, eg, land, blue chips, gold, bonds.

This year, we are challenged to step back and see the long term effects of short term decisions; not easy in an election year. Political hopefuls will have to spin a tall tale to get into the White House. In 2012, it is important to look at what politicians are NOT saying. It does not matter who the next president is, he or she will still stand on a weak platform as the two before; that is as a leader to a transitioning nation.

Consider obstructions in your life as part of a process to help you grow. If our values are in the right place, we can worry less. Don’t put all your investments into one basket; diversify We are in a phase of being asked to think outside our comfort zone; so plan, travel outside the day to day, take a class, see life from a distance. Come September 2012, we are more ready to walk the walk and work hard. Carpe Diem! Carrie Henderson-Lever, NCGR, Level IV 1996.
